This sculpture is cylindrical in shape, resembling a Torah scroll, and is formed of the Hebrew letters that comprise the first line of the above poem. Having begun with the creation of the heavens and the earth, the Torah concludes with the very same heavens and earth being called upon as witnesses to the truth contained in its words.
The Book of Deuteronomy provides us with an eternal testament to the covenant with God. I chose the portion of "Haazinu" (chapter 32), which is comprised of a beautiful poem containing words of faith and admonition. Moses commences the poem by calling upon the heavens and the earth to act as eternal witnesses to God's words.
